Inner Peace

Yesterday, I saw Kung Fu Panda 2. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Brief Summary, Pô has become the Dragon warrior, he is now the guardian of the valley of Peace alongside his five sidekicks : the beautiful Tigress, the lifesaver Crane, precautious Mantis who has not been eaten yet (You will understand when you see the film ;-) ), sweet Viper and Monkey the acrobat.
Lord Shen the villain, has found a secret weapon to rule China and destroy Kung Fu tradition using fireworks. Master Shifu decides to send Pô and the furious five to stop him.
We could have foresee a predictable and boring episode but it is the opposite. This second episode has sublimed itself, paving unexplored roads which bring a new set of colours to it : the drawings are beautiful, the scenery is magical tinted with an agreeable evening sunlight, the characters lovable.
As for the music, it is stunning. For it embraces the traditional asian universe perfectly and keeps some notes of modernity to it. An effort has been put in the plot too. More particularly in the character of Pô. We learn more about his biological parents as well as the circumstances of his adoption by M Ping. Besides, jokes are raining, juggling with action sequences that altogether  make a very funny film. The villain is not merely a common villain who likes to torture innocent people and rule the world, the film goes further. We learn about his story and what makes him take this dark path or I would rather say bring him to it.

This epidode is bigger than the first one as it tackles themes of life like identity or the quest of inner self. As viewers one can easily relate to it because we all run through these questions one day or another. We learn more about Pô, thus making him more human not a simple superficial cartoon character.
Tigress has evolved too, she is a little bit more emotional and nicer than she used to be in the previous episode. I really enjoyed it. On the other hand one can notice that the other characters, Crane Viper Mantis and Monkey are left behind. The attention was put on Pô and Tigress. However it would have been hard to reach the same quality if all the characters were developped. As for the dubbing, Jack Black did an amazing job he did not simply give a voice to Pô he gave him a soul. I think he is the reincarnation of Po in real life. I really do.  As for Angelina Jolie, she also did a great job doing Tigress's voice. She explores new tracks of her voice and the result is brilliant. Her voice is smooth and reassuring. What about Mr Ping's voice? It's just amazingly funny. He is the best character for me. He really looks like the perfect worrying dad. It feels good when everybody in the cinema laugh in the same time. People were laughing a lot whenever he was talking. For sure Kung Fu Panda 2 would not be the same without him.

Here is a video of Jack making Pô's voice.

Another one this time, Angelina Jolie making Tigress's voice.
:-)

I warmly recommend the movie, you will spend a very agreeable time.
